The Sage Awards were first given in 1991 to recognize older adults whose lives demonstrate a lifelong commitment to improving the quality of life in their local communities. Many wonderful individuals and couples from all different walks of life and faiths have been honored through the awards’ 30-year history.

This year’s honorees, Dr. David & Lynn Palmer Barton, Howard Bradley, Mercedes Lytle, Vanita Lytle-Sherrill, Alma McLemore, and Novella Page truly represent the Sage Awards’ motto of wise through reflection and experience for their good works in bettering Middle Tennessee communities. AgeWell Middle Tennessee is also honoring the Senior Citizen Awareness Network (SCAN) of Rutherford and Wilson Counties for making a significant impact on the lives of older adults and their families in Middle Tennessee.
