Affordable, Assisted Transportation

The need for affordable, assisted transportation is one of the biggest unmet needs for older adults in our community and an issue that AgeWell has been working on since 2005. Many older adults who can no longer drive or limit their driving don’t have an affordable means of door-to-door or door-through-door assisted transportation to get to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other places. As a catalyst for solutions, AgeWell convened a Senior Transportation Leadership Coalition in 2015, studied models across the country, and launched a new nonprofit Senior Ride Nashville (SRN) in 2017.

Since then, AgeWell has supported the replication of the SRN model in Sumner (Community Life Ride) and Wilson counties (Wilson Rides), and we applaud these nonprofit partners who are keeping older adults connected to the community. As an advocate, we continue to champion affordable and accessible transportation options for older adults across our region.
